Documentation of Carden Bottoms Ceramic Vessels at the
Louisiana State Exhibition Museum,
Shortly after the Arkansas Archeological Survey received notification of the grant award from NEH for this project, David Jeane, Assistant Archeologist at the Survey's Southern Arkansas University research station in Magnolia, began work on a collection of 20 pottery vessels and other artifacts from our Carden Bottoms study area housed at the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum in Shreveport. Mr. Jeane employed the same protocols used in documenting collections at the University of Arkansas, the Gilcrease Museum, and the National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI). These protocols are outlined in our discussion of the NMAI artifact inventory.
