Caddo Nation
Three members of the Caddo Nation’s Tribal Historic Preservation Office are participating in the project: Robert Cast (Tribal Historical Preservation Officer), Bobby Gonzalez (NAGPRA Coordinator), and LaRisha Wabaunassee (GIS Program Coordinator).
Cast received a B.A. degree in 1994 from the University of North Texas and has served since 1997 as the Tribal Historic Preservation Officer for the Caddo Nation. In that position he monitors projects that fall under the jurisdiction of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act; formulates Memorandums of Agreement and Programmatic Agreements with local, state, and federal agencies; plans, produces, and hosts workshops on cultural preservation laws; and works to advance understanding of Caddo History through museum collection research and archaeological fieldwork.
Bobby Gonzalez has also worked in the Historic Preservation Office since 1997. An enrolled member of the Caddo Nation, he is a former elected Tribal Council member, an ex-officio member of the Caddo Heritage Museum Board of Trustees, technical advisor to the Caddo Nation Repatriation Committee, and a member of the Caddo Native American Church for which he is a practitioner of the death rite ceremony. Mr. Gonzalez currently serves as the Coordinator of the Caddo NAGPRA Program.
LaRisha Wabaunassee is also an enrolled member of the Caddo Nation. She studies business and computer technology at the Caddo/Kiowa Technology Center in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, and serves as the Geographical Information Systems technician for the Caddo Nation EPA and Transportation departments. She is lending her skills in GIS to this project's field and analytic activities. |
